Aging Backwards, by Miranda Esmonde-White, is revolutionizing the way we understand the role fitness plays in slowing down the aging process while keeping our bodies young, attractive, strong and healthy. Justina Bailey has recently studied with Miranda at her base in Montreal, and brings you the same strengthening and lengthening workout you can watch on the popular PBS program ‘Classical Stretch’.
A class designed with the best of barre sculping exercises for the arms, legs, and abs all folded and fused together elegantly with large, flowing Essentrics movements to strengthen the back and posture muscles. You will find new muscles you didn’t know you had and your instructor, Justina, knows the little tricks to get your body to figure out how to strengthen and balance certain parts out – like the waist and pelvic floor muscles.
This class is a combination of elements to create a larger range of motion through Japanese Yoga and Essentric Stretching. A core element is included which will also stretch the back and tighten the midline. Each week provides a different experience with full body stretching with various forms of movement or methods to stretch muscles and fascia along with increasing range of muscle at the joint level. No experience neccessary and all levels of fitness are welcome – you don’t need to be flexible to do a stretch class!
Get a full week’s workout in one morning and enjoy it! We start with long and elegant movements to increase your metabolism and activate the deep muscles which helps create more balance in your body. Your abs work throughout the whole class and your body will feel amazing! Instructor: Justina

This is a good class to cover basic principles of proper alignment and body mechanics, isolate the muscles and restore a balance to the body. Discover a pace that protects the joints and former injuries of the body by encouraging strong and conscious movement. We will work on Pilates foundations to focus on strengthening your postural muscles and Aging Backwards principles for greater joint movement. You will create a youthful feeling in your body, relieve pain, unlock tight muscles and joints, and increase full body flexibility with this age-defying workout.
Barre is a unique fun, high energy class designed to streamline, firm, tighten and tone muscles and realign the body without adding bulk. It fuses legendary fitness techniques from Pilates, ballet, calisthenics and yoga to create balance, elegant posture, body awareness, flexibility, and cardiovascular endurance. The result is a body of your dreams!
The structure of this innovative Barre class keeps the heart rate elevated with motivating, up-beat music and brisk, dynamic, no-impact movements. All the while burning calories and fat and simultaneously building ‘bulk-free’ lean muscle mass. The techniques learned in Barre class help to increase your resting metabolism, which allows you to burn more calories and fat while you are at rest.
You will start with a warm-up, then perform and upper body work out with light dumbbells, which are optional for the armwork exercises. Next, you experience a total body ballet barre, finishing with deep abdominal work.
For best results it is recommended to take 2 classes a week. Barre is for all ages and fitness levels! All Barre teachers have been trained in Barre and also held specialty certifications so you will find highly quality classes at Studio Fitness.
Foam rolling was once used only by professional athletes, coaches, and therapists but is becoming more familiar for people at all levels of fitness. Many people have heard of foam rolling or self-myofascial release but don’t know how to do it or not motivated to do it outside a class environment. This class will release muscle tightness with a combination of rolling techniques, stretches and self-massage. You can aide in the recovery of muscles and assist in returning them to normal function which means your muscles are elastic, healthy, and ready to perform at a moment’s notice. It is rich with benefits for quality of movement and the ability to create more vitality and energy immediately. Europlastika is therapeutic dance created with a number of dancing styles (Flamenco, Riverdance, Russian, etc) plus some of the best exercise disciplines (yoga, pilates). The class will consist of 12-15 easy to learn musical compositions designed for 40+ year old women, concentrating on positive emotions and inspiration from the music! This program is good for your spine, posture and pelvic floor.
